After 14 years at Pizzazz Hair and Nails, her Port Arthur beauty salon, Tasha Bobb decided it was time to switch gears. so in August, after five years of handling her interior design business from her home, she opened a shop in Beaumont, hoping to expand her clientele.
She said customers who complimented her salon?s d?cor and her ?good eye? pushed her toward the move. Then a pastor friend stopped by her house and hired her on the spot to decorate his church after taking one look at her house.
?You know how people say they missed their calling? this was always a gift,? she said.
The grand opening of Inspirational Visions by Tasha at its new location at 3970 Delaware St. will be Sept. 24. Bobb and assistant Lhyntenia Spears hope to ?beautify God?s kingdom? one house or business at a time.
?If you?re not at peace with your home, you carry it with you,? Bobb said. ?A happy home makes a happy life.?
Bobb first got the itch to open the shop while driving past the storefront on Delaware. Formerly a flooring center, the store frustratingly always seemed to be closed when she wanted to pop in. Eventually, she learned it had been closed, and took it as a sign that it was meant to be hers.
?It all fell into place,? Bobb said.
A graduate of Lamar University?s interior design program, Bobb has decorated both houses and businesses, even taking on a Beaumont funeral home.
The trick is to ?make it a home,? she said, ?capturing that cozy, homey feel. You didn?t feel like you were at a funeral home.?
Funeral home or a family home, Bobb hopes to inspire home and business owners with new interiors.
?We want to be a blessing in someone?s home,? she said. ?Your home is your haven. You feel at peace when your house is the way you like it.?
