Hazel is a very sweet, very special dog, who is a true survivor and loves life all the more now. When she came to us she had such severe heartworms that we weren't sure she was going to make it. But with aggressive medical treatment and plenty of TLC, she has recovered and is now heartworm-free and ready to find her forever home! You can see from the expression on her face what a loving, sweet dog she is -- she loves people and loves to go on walks. Our staff and volunteer dog walkers all love her and have rooted for her as she battled her way back to health. We think she's housebroken because she likes to keep a clean kennel, and if she isn't she should be easy to train. She's super-affectionate and will sit next to you and soak up all the love she can. She's good with some dogs but not all, so if you have another dog in the home, bring your pet along for a meet-and-greet! She's a great size for a house dog and has a soft tan coat and soulful eyes. It's heartwarming to see a dog who has been through so much adversity and yet has never lost her love and trust in people -- and has also kept her very happy personality.
