Samsung Galaxy S4 is getting an anti-theft solution. On Tuesday, LoJack for Laptops maker Absolute Software announced the coming release of LoJack for Android smartphones, starting with Samsung's Galaxy S4. LoJack will be embedded in the Galaxy S4's firmware layer.
In the incident?that your Samsung Galaxy S4 disappears, be it through negligence or thievery, LoJack's software offers remote locking and deleting to keep your photos, passwords and other sensitive information private.

The difference?between LoJack in a Samsung Galaxy S4 versus Apple's Find My Phone for iPhone and iPad devices is that a robber can wipe your Galaxy S4 to the factory settings, but LoJack will remain active and irremovable.
Announced at CTIA 2013 trade show, the software can be activated for $29.99?per year for your Samsung Galaxy S4. LoJack also has an Investigations and Recovery Team that works with local law enforcement officials to track down the thief and return the Galaxy S4 to its owner.
In light of criticisms towards smartphone-makers like Apple and Samsung for not doing enough to prevent thefts, the Samsung and LoJack partnership shows that Samsung is exhibiting a step towards helping Android users against phone theft.
According to Absolute, the company behind LoJack, the software does the following for your Android:
- Protect personal and business information
- Receive alerts before a security incident can occur
- Maintain compliance with corporate and government regulations
- Investigate security incidents, identify risks, and recover stolen devices
LoJack for Android phones becomes available early this summer, most likely in June.
The Samsung Galaxy S4?has a 5-inch screen, 0.2 inches bigger than the S3's screen, but a slim bezel keeps the device just about the same size. It looks thicker, yet weighs in at just 4.6 ounces. The Galaxy S4 gets a 1.9 gHz Snapdragon processor, and a 2 GB of RAM. Samsung includes an IR blaster on the Galaxy S4. Paired with a new WatchON app, this allows you to remotely control your TV with your S4. With all of these features, investing in a small annual fee for an anti-theft system on your Galaxy S4 is a small price to pay.
